If City Hall keeps operating in the shadows, we’ll keep turning on the lights.
The City of Lufkin’s Planning & Zoning Commission has illegally approved a site plan for a new On The Road 24-hour, 7-days-a-week truck stop designed to accommodate 38 semi-trucks overnight, located directly across from The Settlement’s only entrance. The truck stop is located on 29 acres and will back up to the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. It is only 4,250 ft from the proposed RaceTrac truck stop and only 2,960 ft from the existing On The Road truck stop. One look at the existing truck stop, and you can tell what kind of operator they are, with trash and garbage strewn across the property.
